How To Massively Increase Traffic To Your Website

July 28th, 2009 by Admin

This article gives advice and information on how to increase traffic to your website. There is obviously no point in having a superb looking, content rich site if only a few people can see it.

One of the best ways of gaining additional traffic is to build up the number of backward links you have pointing to your website. The best form of link is a one-way link, where a website adds a link to your site but does not get one back from you. There are a number of ways of obtaining these type of links including:

Writing articles. Writing articles like this one has many benefits. Other webmasters may add the article to their blog or website and this creates you a one-way link. The people reading the article are also potential visitors to your site.

Purchasing a text-link advert on a quality site. If the site in question has a high page rank value, this is then passed onto your site. The advert itself just like any advert can also attract people to your site.

Joining in debates in various forums. I enjoy reading and contributing to forums. Not only do I learn a great deal, I am also able to get links back to my sites when I make a comment.

Submitting your site to directories.

Making comments on other peoples blogs. This is my least favourite of all of these examples as it can be seen as spam. Other people however do think it can prove to beneficial. I must say that I stay away from anything that could be seen as spam.

Where possible the website which includes a link to your site needs to be in the same industry as your own website. These backward links have a much higher value in the eyes of the search engines.

I have to admit that it is extremely hard to obtain these type of links especially on a one-way basis.

What we therefore need is a solution and here it is. I believe it is a good idea to build a network of sites on the same theme as the main website. Each of the sites in the network has a link pointing to the main site and after promoting each of the sites, you will then have a number of themed and powerful one-way backward links which will make the original site like an authority in its own field.

If you are struggling to find content you could use other peoples articles to help you. It is a good idea to have each of the sites in the network on a different server. This however can be very expensive and therefore for a smaller business may not be best advice.

To help fund the cost of the network you could add google adsense onto all of the new sites. This may not bring in huge amounts of money but could go some way to helping with hosting and domain renewal costs.

In the future this network could be worth thousands of pounds if you have spent enough time promoting each site. At this stage you have the option of selling the network and relaxing or enjoying the benefits yourself that it will no doubt bring.

I believe the writing of quality articles for re-print and the building of themed network websites is the future of the internet for people who want to be successful webmasters. Good luck.

Why A Simple Counter is Never Enough for Your Website

June 5th, 2009 by Admin

A simple website stats counter is not enough if you are really interested in finding out information about your traffic. Certainly, a simple web counter will tell you how many people have visited your site, but that is it. If you are trying to gain real information, you will need to have a web counter that does more than just count. Read the following reasons why you need more than a simple counter for your website.

Reason #1 – Time

A simple counter tells you how many visitors you have had in total. This is interesting information, but it is really not helpful overall. You also want to know what time people are visiting your sites, whether it is at night, on weekends, in the morning, and to know in general when your web pages are experiencing traffic and when they are not. Also, you want to know if these are new visitors or return visitors, a simple counter is not going to provide you with that information.

Reason #2 – Where Your Traffic Comes From

Another reason a simple site traffic counter is not enough is because you want to know where your traffic is coming from. For instance, if all your traffic is coming from Google and AltaVista then you might consider marketing to other search engines as well to get more traffic. Also, are people responding to e-mails, affiliate programs, or other types of advertisement to get to your site? All of this information will help you create a better site and make more money.

Reason #3 – Who Your Visitors Are

A simple counter is not going to tell you who your visitors are or how they found you. This is really important information because it lets you know what marketing techniques are working for you or not. You want to know what keywords are used to find your website, what links are being clicked on to bring you more traffic, what search engines are being used, and all the detailed information that helps guide you in your future marketing campaign. As you can see, a simple counter is not enough if you are interested in making the most of your marketing and your business.

Reason #4 – Equipment

This might not seem like an important thing to know, but it really is. With a professional counter you will be able to know which browsers and equipment, including screen sizes that the majority of your traffic is using. When you know this information you will better be able to design your website to reflect your customers’ equipment and browsers so they can view your page as best as possible.

If you really want to have the best site for your visitors and get the most traffic and make the most money possible, you will not employee a simple counter on your website but will take your success more seriously.

Thinking of using hit exchanges to boost your Adsense earnings? Think again!

June 4th, 2009 by Admin

So, you’ve added Adsense to your site and you are getting a few clicks. You could be thinking to yourself, How do I get a massive amount of visitors to bump up my earnings? If you’re anything like me, you hear those stories about webmasters that have added Adsense and are already earning five figure incomes per month, and you start to see the dollar signs.

So you start brainstorming. You come up with a few ideas: email marketing, ebooks, trial software, etc. The thirst for Adsense dollars (and maybe a few affiliate dollars) is your main drive. Pushing massive amounts of traffic through your site can give you quite a thrill ride.

Then along comes the well known email that markets the traffic exchanges. If you aren’t familiar with traffic exchanges, it’s really very simple. You see, you sign up for their service (which often times is free) and your website is put in a list. The way the free traffic works is that you surf the web using their browser, browsing sites that are in their directory (or list) and every 30 seconds you can refresh to a new site. As you continue to do this, it builds up credits for your account that you use for other people who are using their browser to see your site.

It’s a cyclical service. You see their site, they see yours. And since you can have as many browsers going (among the many traffic exchanges) as your computer can handle, you can theoretically build up a large quantity of hits on your site in a relatively small period of time.

It seems like a great thing, and for many it fills a very necessary niche, so I can’t say that the traffic exchanges are a bad service. I would use them in anything else that I am doing. I would, however, make a very big distinction.

First, I know and respect the tech’s at Google and I know that when they make a new program for their visitors and webmasters to use, they make it for the benefit of everyone. That is the case with their Adwords and Adsense programs, both targeted to helping webmasters make money through advertising (albeit the opoosite ends of the scale).

So when I put an ad on my website, I know that I am offering a service to the advertiser (through Google) to reach their target market. And ethically, I should only be paid when I provide that service (someone clicks through that ad to their site). There are extreme ethical problems if you were to use traffic exchanges with the Adsense program to try and cheat the advertiser out of his hard earned dollars.

Plus, if you haven’t figured out by now, Google knows what you are doing. They have specific ways of knowing what is a legitimate impression, versus what is a hit generated by a traffic exchange. Your numbers quickly dwindle if you use a hit exchange and you run the risk of being kicked off the program.

Plus, often times you have to go through two websites wasting a full minute of your time before you get one hit directed to your website. Building up over time, it eventually it all adds up.

Take, for instance, the “surf contests”. This is where they tell you who has racked up the most surfing in the week. These numbers are huge… up to 10,000 page loads. When you add it up, that’s over 84 hours of one week that is taken up trying to earn an extra 1,000 hits on your site. Not very worth it to me.

The best way to use the Adsense program is with a website that you have that is established and has a constant stream of visitors going through it. That’s the goal of the program, make money off of an existing site and its content.

Planning For Your Website’s Future- Get Search Engine Traffic

September 27th, 2008 by Admin

Five tips to effectively schedule your content.

In order to get traffic on your site you need content. It’s that simple the more content you have the longer visitors stay at your site and the more free search engine visitors you receive. So should you just find out what content your visitors like and publish it? No!

Try to get as much content as you can, then schedule it. PHPNuke and other CMSes offer you an option to “program” a story to appear in the future. So it doesn’t matter when you write it, it matters when you publish it.

Here are five tips on how to schedule your articles most effectively:

  • Seasonal If you have articles that is more effective in a season or near a holiday. Then schedule it around that landmark so it will be more pertinent to visitors.

  • Correspond it to your site events- if your site is launching a new service or product keep articles about the product to coincide with your launch.

  • Maintain a consistent schedule- If you adopt a frequent schedule then your visitors will visit you more often. Google likes this to and they will send their FreshBot to visit your site often if you have consistently new content. The more frequently you get visited the more free search engine visitors you’ll cultivate- especially for timely topics.

  • Don’t overload on one topic Schedule your articles so that you do not display too many stories about the same topic in one period. While some of your visitors may love it, other may not be interested in that topic and may decide not to come back.

  • Tease your visitors. Show your visitors what’s coming in the future so they are encouraged to come back. For example MetOpen offers an upcoming articles section so visitors can see what we are offering in the future. Users of PHPNuke can download MetOpen’s free Met Future Articles module.
