7 Reasons Why You Need Supplements

February 28th, 2009 by Admin

1.Food irradiation: is a food processing technique to extend the shelf life of food by destruction of harmful microorganisms and delay of ripening. The food is exposed to ionizing energy and radiation. However, this process also eliminates the essential nutrients especially water soluble vitamins and antioxidants. Food irradiation is widely used in products like chicken, meats, and vegetables. This technique is approved and used in more than 40 countries world wide.

2.Environmental Pollution: Everyday millions kilograms of chemicals are dumped into our environment. These wastes go to the air, water and food that we eat. For example, if you eat fish, you are quite likely to consume excessive mercury at the same time. Studies show that environmental pollution is the main cause for degenerative diseases. Thus, you need quality and potent health supplements to detoxify your body against the pollution and boost immune system.

3.Soil depletion: Aggressive farming, acid rains, use or artificial fertilizers and synthetic pesticides have caused soil depletion. These activities deplete the essential nutrients in the soil. As a result, nutritional values of fruits and vegetables are greatly reduced. In fact, the vegetables you eat today taste bland due to lack minerals in the soil. According to a recent study sponsored by United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), about 17% of land in the world has been damaged. However, soil remains is either slowly losing nutrients, or no longer contain the essential nutrients.

4.Lifestyle: Depending on your lifestyle and behavior, you may need nutritional supplements. For example, smoking destroys certain vitamins. Both first hand and second hand smokers need to take extra antioxidants to protect the body against free radicals. Excessive alcohol consumption impairs the body’s ability to absorb many nutrients and inhibits the production of digestive enzymes. In the above mentioned situations, taking supplements is MUST to stay healthy. Other examples that require extra supplementation include: athletes, pregnant ladies, people who work in radioactive environment and those who work in physically demanding occupation.

5.Stress: is not an unusual terms to many of us. Stress can deplete your energy, lead to acceleration of aging process and degenerative diseases. The symptoms of stress include fatigue, depression, panic, anxiety, loss of appetite, and insomnia. Fortunately, there are supplements that can work to effectively reduce the detrimental effects of stress, and also relief the symptoms of stress.

6.Pesticides in foods: Pesticides are widely used in agricultural activities to control and destroy pests. Pesticides are poisonous and reside in our foods. According to a study by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the health benefits of fruits and vegetables are reduced by use of pesticides. When you eat foods that contain pesticides, they may cause health problems to immune system, nervous and hormonal system. Unfortunately, there is no way you can detect pesticides in foods.

7.Food Processing: Most of the foods from supermarkets are processed. Processed foods are not fresh and contain fewer nutrients compare to fresh foods. For example, grain peels which contain natural fiber are removed in the processing stage. Processed foods also contain no live enzymes. Enzymes are necessary for digestion and metabolic function. Lack of enzymes can cause degenerative diseases. In addition, processed foods contain refined sugar, extra salt, unhealthy fat, and chemical additives. These substances may bring negative impacts to your body.

Prevailing prayer

February 27th, 2009 by Admin

It was September 1957, four young men began to pray regularly in a little school near Kells, Ireland. They persevered and prevailed in prayer, so someone was converted in January the next year. Following that, there was about one conversion every week. Twelve months later they had a weekly gathering of around fifty people at their meeting, and around a hundred other small prayer groups had sprung up in the area! They held a service the next year, which attracted a huge crowd, so they poured out onto the street. People were convicted by the Holy Spirit, so much that some of them could not stand. Revival broke out, and every night there were gatherings. They prayed, praised, read the bible, and encouraged each other. They held meetings in everyday situations: kitchens, little barns, schools, fields, and even on sidewalks. They would pray and weep all night, and neglected their farm work so they could work for souls. How did it all start? God used four young Irish lads who prevailed in prayer.

“The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” – James 5:16

To promote a revival, we can use two things. One moves people, we can use the other to move God. We use truth to move men, and prayer to move God.
We obviously can’t tell God to do something, but we are changed in prayer, so God can move in us. It’s a lot like how God always wants to forgive a sinner, but He can’t forgive until the sinner’s heart meets God’s conditions. So when we pray, the change in us allows for God to answer.
This is why we can’t have a revival without prayer. The most exciting messages and truths alone will do nothing. Remember, words will never have any effect without the Holy Spirit. We must spend time in prayer, asking for Him to speak through the words and work in people’s hearts. Without it, hearts harden, because they have “heard it all before”.
“Prevail” means to triumph, win through, succeed or overcome. So prevailing prayer is prayer that persists and wins! This is one of the most important keys to a revival. We can’t have a revival without prevailing prayer. Prevailing prayer isn’t just a desire for something. It’s prayer that gets what is seeks, it moves God and has impact.
Looking at the story above is just a glimpse of the impact that prevailing prayer has. Whether we are commuting, working, or at home relaxing, we all have opportunities to pray. This is one of the best ways to use your life for God’s glory: asking Him to move. Will you commit to learning to prevail in prayer?

What to Expect in the Year 2006

February 27th, 2009 by Admin

Happy New Year! I’m sure many of you are wondering what this New Year will bring. Joy, peace, happiness, or sorrow? Let me start out by saying that I am not a prophet, nor do I proclaim to be one. With that out of the way, this is what I personally believe will come forth during the year 2006:

Iraq- Will remain unstable as long as Syria and Iran continue to go unpunished for the efforts in funding the insurgency in Iraq. The United Nations and Europe continue to remain silent on Iran atrocious behavior towards Israel and the United States. Israel or the United States will be forced to enter a war against Syria or Iran.

Iran- Radical President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has not made it a secret that his country will build a nuclear weapon and use it against Israel. Look for increased tensions between Israel and Iran… a possible war. Russia will enter the fray due to its nuclear pact with Iran.

Israel- With the Prime Minister of Sharon incapacitated due to a massive stroke, look for an unprecedented political change in the coming elections. The Roadmap for “Peace” will stall. Israel will be in survivor-mode this year as the Arab (Islamic) states that surround her become more outspoken for her destruction. There will be a war with Iran. Look for more Jews from North America to immigrate back to Israel.

United States- Eventually more troops will be pulled from Iraq. However, as the morality and Christian foundation of our country continue to be stripped by the A.C.L.U. and other political parties. The U.S. will rapidly corrode from within making America an easy target for the terrorist. It will be very surprising if America escapes a major terrorist attack this year.

Church- Increase division between ’so-called’ Christians and ‘true’ Christians. The refusal of compromising on moral issues will be the focal point for this division. As Isaiah the prophet said, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20) The true followers of Christ will face an increased battle towards Christian beliefs within the United States.

Summary- In closing, only the Lord actually knows the future. Based on scripture it is interesting to try to guess how things will come about in accordance with Biblical prophecy. With that said, I believe America needs to repent and pray to God for mercy. For if 2006 is anything like 2005, what major calamities (earthquake, hurricane, tsunami, flood, or terrorist attack) will reverberate around the world (especially in the U.S.) to force us to seek the face of the Lord?

“Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 21:36 NIV)

Nevada York, Author of Caught Up and Mahogany’s Revelation, released her latest book in July of 2004 to rave reviews from readers. Nevada’s published novels are an accomplishment that has been well worth the wait. Not willing to be deterred, her determination has bought about the publication of two memorable novels. http://nevadayork.com

Getting Discounts on Auto Insurance

February 24th, 2009 by Admin

As insurance costs keep increasing, intelligent car owners are looking for cheap auto insurance. There are several different types of deductions available and if you can save a few dollars, then why not? Below is a list of general discounts that may be available to you. Check with your insurer to see if you’re entitled.

Individual-Associated Discounts

These price reductions are usually given based on your performance as a driver and policy owner. The other discounts are given based on your present status in life.

  • Completing A Traffic School Class If by any chance you have recently been given a ticket, you may attend traffic school either online or through a traditional setting to have your ticket expunged from your driving history. Indirectly, this will have an effect of lowering your yearly insurance rates
  • Good Student Deductions. You may also take into consideration your childs grades to get automobile insurance deductions. If youre insuring your child who drives and he satisfies the GPArequirements of the insurance provider, you may ultimately receive discounts as well.
  • discounts for Your Profession. There are many professions that can make you entitled for car insurance discounts. Doctors, scientists, government employees, to name a few, all may be eligible to receive discounts on their auto insurance.
  • Senior Citizen Discount. If youre a mature driver, aged 55 or over and have completed a Defensive Driving course being offered by the Department of Motor Vehicles in your state, then you may qualify for a discount.
  • Loyalty Programs. Staying with the same insurance agent for several years and maintaining a clean driving record will give you a great history with them. Many times, the insurer will reward you with your loyalty with lower auto insurance rates.
  • Sustain a Good Driving Record. Your unspoiled driving history will also reap its rewards in the form of auto insurance deductions. Some automobile insurance underwriters provide deductions for drivers and insurance policy owners who have not been in accidents or have not received any traffic tickets for a certain period of time.
  • Homeowners + Car Packages. Your insurance carrier may give you multi-line discounts if you insure your household and other vehicles with them as well.
  • Car-Related Discounts

Your car is a huge factor in defining how much you’ll be paying for auto insurance. Depending on the overall safety and other features of your car, you can receive certain discounts on insurance.

    1. Car Air Bags. There are several types of airbags: front, rear, side-curtain, etc. The greater you’re protected, the cheaper your automobile insurance could be.
    2. Anti-Lock Brakes System (ABS). Many automobiles on the road today are equipped with ABS. Many car insurance firms offer deductions if your car is equipped with this type of braking system and many states even require the insurance agent to do so.
    3. Car Alarms and Anti-Theft Devices. Any type of add-on to discourage a person from breaking into or stealing your car can also provide you with better insurance rates.

Major Scientific Discoveries foreshadowed in the Old Testament

    February 23rd, 2009 by Admin

“Major Scientific Discoveries foreshadowed in the Old Testament”

Author: Terry Leon Dashner of Broken Arrow, OK

The bubonic plague killed one half of the population of England. Some entire villages were destroyed by the disease. However, it was evident for all to see that the Jewish people were escaping the plaque. Why did they escape? Because some 3000 years before bacteria was discovered, the Creator gave instructions which are recorded in the Old Testament book of Leviticus that prevent the spread of communicable disease. Those instructions require strict cleanliness and quarantines, and cleansing following contact with the sick or the dead. The Jews followed those instructions, and their lives were spared.

Ignaz Semmelweiss lived from 1818 until 1865. He was a Hungarian obstetrician and was connected with the Vienna General Hospital where he taught obstetrics to medical students. One day he was walking through the lobby of the hospital when he noticed a near-term pregnant woman weeping inconsolably. When he asked why, he was informed that the distraught expectant mother had been assigned to the obstetrics ward served by the medical students rather than to the midwives. To her, that was a death sentence. She preferred the midwives because the medical student ward had a terrible reputation for postpartum infection. The reputation was justly earned. One out of every six women delivered by the medical students died.

Dr. Semmelweiss wondered what the difference was between the medical students and the midwives. Suddenly, he realized the difference possibly was the anatomy lab. In that day it was common for the medical students to dissect cadavers in the anatomy lab while the expectant mothers labored in a nearby ward. Every now and then the students would leave the lab to check the progress of their patients by doing an internal exam. Dr. Semmelweiss wondered if there was a connection between the medical students who handled the dead corpses in the lab, and then without washing, used their hands to do the internal exams on the laboring women. He decided to order his students to rinse their hands in limewater before doing the exams on the women. Within one month the death rate of the women dropped from one in six to one in eighty-four! The results were indicative of the benefits of following the Bible’s teaching about dead bodies and cleanliness.

Today we know about the transmission of bacteria that was taking place from the cadavers to the women. They did not know in Dr. Semmelweiss’ time. Many more lives would have been saved, and much suffering avoided, if only people had by faith accepted the Old Testament’s teaching about cleanliness and practiced it (The Word on Health, Dr. Michael D. Jacobson, Moody Press, 2000).

When studying the science of the ancient world, one is more apt to be impressed with its ignorance than to admire its accuracy. However, the Bible offers a definite exception to this rule. The scriptures are replete with statements suggesting scientific knowledge which predates the corresponding discoveries of secular science. Given that Bible writers were not scientists, and given that the scientific information at their disposal was generally misleading, the accuracy of the Bible can only be attributed to the inspiration of God (“Examples of Scientific Accuracy in the bible” David Pyles). Let me begin by listing a few of these Biblical foreshadows.

For one, Genesis 10:25 speaks of one Peleg whose name means division. The text then explains that he was so named because in his days the earth was divided. It is now commonly believed that all continents of the earth were once combined into a single continent called Pangaea. This belief is based upon the fact that present continents appear somewhat as pieces out of a puzzle. There are also other evidences, including several geological similarities on matching continental edges (“Examples of Scientific Accuracy in the Bible” David Pyles).

Secondly, the fact that the earth is of spherical shape is generally considered to be recent knowledge. However, Isaiah 40:22 spoke of the circle of the earth approximately 750 years before Christ. Other statements in the Bible also indicate that God revealed this truth long ago. For example, David said that God has removed our transgression from us as far as the east is from the west (Ps 103:12). On a spherical surface, east and west are infinitely separated in the sense that one can travel indefinitely in either direction without ever attaining the other. However, Solomon described the wind as blowing in circuits, first towards the south and then turning toward the north. North and south are not infinitely separated as east and west, because a southward traveler on a spherical surface will be heading north after crossing the South Pole (David Pyles).

Thirdly consider this: What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. Matthew Maury (1806-1873) is commonly known as the father of oceanography. He was among the first to discover and chart systematic ocean currents. Maury claimed that his research was inspired by Ps 8:4-8 (David Pyles).

Fourthly, in Leviticus 17:11 it says that the “life of the flesh is in the blood” (KJV). That’s very interesting because science didn’t know about the properties of blood until centuries after Moses received the Law from God on Mount Sinai. Every ancient Jew was taught the validity of God’s Word for practical living as well as its spiritual value. Every Jew was taught that Leviticus 17:11 referred to the life of living creatures. If one drained the blood out of his sacrificial lamb, the lamb died; therefore, the blood equaled life. Here again, it was centuries after this Biblical knowledge that blood was discovered by means of science to circulate throughout the human body.

Fifthly, it wasn’t until the time of Pasteur that germs were discovered as the culprit to spoiling French wine. Pasture eliminated the microbes by “pasteurizing” the wine. The process is still used today with dairy products. The Old Testament proscribed certain meats as being unclean for human consumption. Today we know that many of these banned meats, if not properly prepared and fully cooked, can sicken or cause death in humans because of bad bacteria.

Time does not permit me to list the Bible’s instructions on washing clothing when contaminated by disease and death. Or to list what the Bible says regarding the effectiveness of quarantines for diseases and the importance of early diagnoses of skin diseases.

The Bible, if it’s nothing more than an ordinary ancient book, is certainly unusually accurate in its scientific foreshadowing. I believe that’s because it’s more than just an ancient book. It is the Holy Word of God with a scientific accuracy long before inductive reasoning was used to challenge what had been unchallenged until the Age of the Enlightenment.

Keep the faith. Jesus is our Healer and soon coming King.

    Major landmarks on the moon

    February 23rd, 2009 by Admin

This article lists some of the more well-known and interesting landmarks on the moon.

The moon is the second brightest object in our nighttime sky. Our moon is also known as Luna and is our nearest neighbor. It takes 27 and 1/3 days for the moon to revolve around our planet. We first visited the moon in 1969. The trip to the moon and back takes approximately six days. The moon is highly visible to our naked eye and it appears to be white with patches of gray. The features of the moon were first viewed by Galileo in the 1600’s. Since then, the features of the moon have been highly photographed and detailed. Each area has a name. There are mountains, basins, plains, craters, and seas. The word Mare means “sea”, however there is no water on the moon. Here is a list of some of the major features on the moon’s surface. If you live in the southern hemisphere keep in mind that you are viewing the moon from the opposite direction. This means that the directions in this list will be upside down from what you see.

    Craters

Tycho: This crater is about 58 miles wide. It is considered a young crater even though it was made about a billion years ago as a result of a collision. This crater has a wide debris field. Tycho is located near the southern pole region.

Copernicus: This crater is also a young crater like Tycho. This crater is 56 miles in diameter. Copericus is located near the center of the near side of the moon. This crater, along with the Tycho crater, can easily be viewed with binoculars on a clear night.

    Seas and Oceans

Oceanus Procellarum: This is also known as the Ocean of Storms. This area was thought to be an area of storm activity at one time. It is located in the moons western hemisphere and looks like a vast gray plain area. Surveyor 1, Surveyor 3, Luna 9, Luna 13, and Apollo 12 have all landed here.

Mare Imbrium: This is also known as the Sea of Rains. This is the largest basin area on the moon. It is also the second largest overall area on the moon’s surface. It is located north central region of the moon.

Mare Crisium: This is also known as the Sea of Crises. This is the first feature of the moon to appear after a new moon. It is located on the mid-eastern edge of the near side of the moon.

Mare Tranquillitatis: This is also known as the Sea of Tranquility. This is a vast area in the northern hemisphere of the moon. This was the site of the first moon landing in 1969. The landing took place at Tranquility Base at the southern edge of the sea.

Mare Serenitatis: This is also known as the Sea of Serenity. This sea is located in the northeastern section of the moon. Serpentine Ridge is located to the east of this sea.

Mare Nubium: This is also known as the Sea of Clouds. This sea has a deep crater at its western edge. The areas surrounding this sea are some of the mostly heavily cratered areas on the moon.

    Mountains

Apennine Mountains: These mountains are named after the Apennine Mountains in Italy. They are located beside Mare Imbrium. On July 30, 1971 Apollo 15 landed here at Hadley Rille. These mountains go as high as 15,000 feet and are almost 500 feet long.

Haemus Mountains: This mountain chain is located along the southern shore of the Sea of Serenity. They are to the south of the Apennine Mountains.

    Other

Altai Scarp: This is a steep slope that was the result of an earthquake. This scarp is up to two and a half miles high in some spots. This landmark is located in the southern hemisphere near Mare Nectaris.

Five Band Resistor Color Code-What Does The Last Band Of Whi

    February 19th, 2009 by Admin

In electronic repair, most of the time i came across five band resistor color code. The purpose
of using the five colour band resistor in a circuit is that it provide a more accurate
value compare to the four color band. For example in order to get the value of 22.6kohm,
with four colors band resistor you will not be able to find it. The most you can get is 22k
(red, red, orange and gold). If with the five color band you will be able to calculate it
(red, red, blue, red, brown)the last color which is brown represent 1% tolerance. You may go to
google search engine and type resistor color code, resistor color coding, resistor color code
calculator, or resistor color code chart to know more about how to calculate a five band resistor
    values.

If you open up an analog multimeter you will understand what i mean. Most of the resistor circuit inside
the multimeter are using five color band. Why? Because the reading that you get whenever you measure current,
voltage or ohm, the panel will show the nearest value. For instance, if you measure a 9v battery
the needle will point to may be 8.9v,9v,or 9.1 volt. If that particular multimeter was designed
using four color band resistor the result that it gets may be 8.5v,9.5v or even 10 volt. In other
words the use of five color band resistor is to make a circuit more precise and output the desire
result as what the engineers want it to be.

There’s a interesting five color band resistor which is unique.
In fact i have already seen quite a number of them. I will reveal the calculation about this
unique five color band resistor. The colors are orange, orange, red, gold, white.
Actually it is a four color band resistor. Just ignore the white color and proceed to calculate
using the four color band formula. As to why the resistor manufacturers add this ‘extra’ white
band i really do not know. However, from forum someone said that it is for the military purposes.
If you know the answer i would like you to email me so that i can share with other fellow
electronic repairer thru this info repairing newsletter.
