The Magnitude for Getting Public Liability Insurance

October 31st, 2008 by Admin

Public liability cover is vital for the reason that all businesses are at jeopardy to some degree. Even though nothing unpleasant has ever taken place to your companies possessions that is no guarantee that it will not one day in the future. If an individual is harmed or their belongings missing, it’s your legal responsibility to properly refund them. This cost could be massively large, depending on the exact brand of case.

Although, you do have a method to protect yourself for this incident. Obtaining public liability cover permits you to breathe a tad easier. If a client claim is dear, the insurance corporation will be on hand to give a safety net. Its their sense of duty to guarantee that you are shielded from any claims & legal payments brought against you. This leaves you available to concentrate on actually doing business, rather than thinking about what could happen. The following are a number illustrations of times when public liability insurance have in the past come in helpful.

Managers of plumbing firms typically get the job concluded quick and easy. But, now and then something might go wrong. For example, should you break a client’s pipes whilst on the job, affecting possessions for instance laptops & carpeting, public liability cover will be there to pick-up the expense. Looking for insurance quotes for your business? Get a Professional Indemnity Insurance quote from Insured Risks.

An additional illustration is that of a publicity agency. If a client were to twist an ankle in your company even if it’s not your fault, you would be held liable. Yet, with public liability indemnity you would not have to resolve the claim at all.

In a similar circumstance, injury caused to an onlooker by an employee on a construction site is the legal accountability of the firm’s director. This sort of claim can easily get exceedingly expensive in fact, unless you buy the correct protection.

Vacation Break for Electrical Machines

October 31st, 2008 by Admin

Are you overloaded? Have you become a part of the highly stressed modern working environment? You may need a break – a vacation, a change in environment, a change of pace…

Similarly, machines can be overloaded too. Those that were designed for a particular system are often pushed to their limits when new requirements emerge.

Just like the final straw that breaks the camel’s back, electrical machines too, can reach their breaking point. If there is no vacation for them, they will burn.

Fuses and circuit breakers are designed to stop the current in a circuit before any damage can occur – create a vacation or a break for them.

A circuit breaker is one of the ways to prevent motors (or other electrical machines) from burning due to overloading. All electrical motors produce heat when running. At the time of a fault, this heat builds up at a much higher rate than it can be dissipated. This can result in damaged equipment, fire or even explosion.

The electrical protective device like the circuit breaker is designed to de-energize the circuit before this heat level becomes dangerous.

There are basically 2 means of activating a break – thermally (heat) or magnetically.

Thermal circuit breakers make use of bimetallic strips that will bend due to the different expansion rates of each of the metals in the strip. The bending of the strip will move a tripping mechanism latch that will then open up the contacts of the circuit breaker.

Because bimetallic strips take time to heat up and bend, this type of tripping device is used for tripping prolonged overloaded situations. The setting for breaking the circuit at a particular overload value can be adjusted.

Magnetic circuit breakers make use of the field strength of magnetic coils to trip a latch that will then open up the contacts of the circuit breaker. This method is used for high current faults, like in a short circuit. This method is designed to trip instantly.

A thermal-magnetic circuit breaker incorporates both a thermal strip and a magnetic coil. This type of circuit breaker is able to protect against momentary overloads as well as high or short circuit current faults.

What happens if the circuit breaker is placed in a high temperature environment? The thermal bimetallic strip bends on high temperature. In this case, the current is not causing the high temperature in the bimetallic strip, but the ambient air is! The current may still be below the safe operating rated value for the motor.

In this case, a compensating bimetallic strip may be incorporated into the circuit breaker to eliminate this type of error. These circuit breakers are often used in hot areas like furnace, oven, and boiler rooms.

Circuit breakers can be reset very quickly, once they have tripped. Can your break or vacation be reset very quickly too? Don’t reset. Take a long break!

Until next time…

RFID Privacy and You

October 30th, 2008 by Admin

RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) is a tiny wireless technology which has the potential to radically transform the commerce world. It consists of an inexpensive chip, often smaller than a grain of sand, which can be read up to several meters away. The hope among retailers, is that the technology can be used as a next-generation barcode, automating inventory levels, and thus cutting costs for manufacturers and retailers. While the technology does offer some potentially remarkable opportunities, it also raises some concerns with regard to individual privacy and corporate espionage.

While barcode-type RFID tags are not likely to reach consumers on a regular basis in the near future, there is little doubt that with the success of early trials, they eventually will. Consequently, concerns about privacy infringement with regard to RFID are important not only in the theoretical sphere, but increasingly such discussions have vital practical applications.

SPECIFIC PRIVACY CONCERNS

RFID tags differ from conventional barcode tags in a number of ways. It is these differences that create the benefit of adopting the technology, while simultaneously creating the greatest concern over the privacy issues involved. For example, under today’s bar code technology, a pack of Wrigley’s Gum sold in Houston, Texas has the same barcode as a pack sold in New York City or Ontario. With RFID, however, each pack would have a unique ID code which could be tied to the purchaser of that gum when they use an ‘item registration system’ such as a frequent shopper card or a credit card.

Continuing with the Gum example, the purchaser could then be tracked if he/she ever entered that same store again, or perhaps more frightening, if they entered any other store with RFID reading capability. Because unlike a barcode, RFID can be read at a distance of up to a few yards. Meaning that if you enter a store with a pack of gum in your pocket, the reader can identify that pack of gum, the time and date you bought it, where you bought it, and how frequently you come into the store. If you used a credit card or a frequent shopper card to purchase it, the manufacturer and store could also tie that information to your name, address, and email. You could then receive targeted advertisements by gum companies as you walk down the aisle, or receive mailings through your e-mail or snail mail about other products.

As the technology behind RFID advances, the potential for privacy infringement does as well. A more recent development is a study which reveals that RFID already has the capability to determine the distance of a tag from the reader location. With such technology already available, it is not difficult to imagine a situation in which retailers could determine the location of individuals within their store, and thus target specific advertisements to that customer based upon past purchases. In effect, that store would be creating a personal log of your past purchases, your shopping patterns, and ultimately your behavioral patters. While such information gathering would be considered intrusive enough by many consumer’s standards, the danger that such information could be sold to other retailers, (similar to the way such profiles are currently sold regarding internet commerce), could create potentially devastating information vulnerabilities. While some RFID critics have pointed out that the technology could lead to some sort of corporate ‘Big Brother’ there is a more widespread concern that allowing RFID to develop without legal restrictions will eliminate the possibility for consumers to refuse to give such information to retailers.

COUNTER-MEASURES

Despite these and other such dangers, however, there are some steps being taken to mitigate these privacy issues. For example, a recent proposal would require that all RFID-tagged products be clearly labeled. This would give consumers the choice to select products without RFID, or at a minimum to recognize that the items they select are being tracked. For those unsatisfied with disclosure, there also exist a growing number of products designed to limit their exposure to RFID tagged products. One such product is Kill Codes a command which turns off all RFID tags immediately as the consumer comes into contact with them, thus entirely eliminating the effectiveness of the technology. Another proposal, however, RSA Blocker Tags, try to address privacy concerns while maintaining the integrity of the product. Under this technology, the item can only be tracked by that store’s authorized reader, meaning that customers cannot be tracked outside of the store in which they purchased the item.

CONCLUSION

While some of the dangers posited here seem far-fetched and unlikely, the technology already exists and is developing rapidly to ensure that such hypotheticals can become realities. RFID tags have the potential to revolutionize the shopping experience by bringing us targeted products and allowing retailers and manufacturers to track purchases and shopper behavior more accurately and cost-effectively. The concern, however, is that if we are not aware and careful about the potential abuses of such technologies early on, we may fail to incorporate them at a time when the laws and mores of such a system are still developing, ultimately suffering the consequences later on.

Poker Slang: Doubled up

October 30th, 2008 by Admin

You will often hear online poker players in both cash game and tournaments talking about how they can’t wait to ‘double up.’ To double up in poker is when you get all your chips into the pot and are called by an opponent with an inferior hand, thus, in effect, doubling the amount of chips you have. Obviously then, doubling up is a good thing and something poker players are always clamoring for and about. Often it becomes a kind of mantra, or inside table joke, “Are you gonna double me up?” “What say you get me doubled up?”

In other occasions, if a online poker player is lucky enough or has a small enough stack, it is possible to triple up, quadruple up, quintuple up, and so on, though you never really hear people asking for that. Which leads me to believe that perhaps I should start asking for it. Who’s going to ’sextuple me up’? Ok, maybe there’s a reason you don’t hear that one.

One variation of the term ‘double up’ that you might often hear is ‘double through,’ as in ‘Rick doubled through Joey,’ which has its own whole slew of implied connotations, but also, in the long run, is considered a good thing for the recipient.

Leaving A Message On The Speakerphone

October 28th, 2008 by Admin

With America always on the go, people do not often stay at home or at their office. They can either be reached through their mobile phones or even their blackberry especially those who are “corporatish.”

One old fashion way of reaching a person, which is still being used today is leaving a message in a speakerphone. The messages can be accessed by the person through outside line by using special codes that he or she will only know.

One of the fun ways of having these speakerphones is formulating messages that will introduce you or your business.

Speakerphone greeting messages at home phones are much more relaxed and fun as compared to those being used in the corporate world. Some inject a little joke on these greetings while others only reveal the number and not the name of the speakerphones owner.

Formal and Informal

As mentioned before, messages in speakerphones at the office are much more formal than the ones being used at home. They often contain a greeting, a mention of the name of the company, the person’s designation and the contact details if there are any.

The speakerphone greeting will also contain a request to leave a message and contact details plus the promise of feedback as soon as they are able. The standard greeting runs like this.

“Hi! You have reached the office of Lisa Jackson, corporate counsel for X Inc. I am out of the office right now. Kindly leave your contact numbers and message after the beep and I will get back to you as soon as I can.”

Speakerphone greetings being used at home, on the other hand, contain the standard number of the phone, the name of the homeowner and the request for a message and contact details. Speakerphone greeting often run like this,

“Hi! You have reached the Jackson residence at (telephone number). We are not at home right now. Please leave a message and we will get back to you.”

Though some people would like some anonymity and will only include their numbers, most include the name of the family in residence as this will help your caller determine if they are calling the right number.

Besides, this will lessen the amount of speakerphone messages that you will read as your message has already prevented callers with the wrong number from leaving any message.

Fit It With The Environment

Just in case you are starting to formulate your own message or you are thinking of changing the speakerphone greeting that you have already recorded, here are some points that you can consider about speakerphone messages.

If the speakerphone greeting will be used in the office, keep it in a formal format. When in the home, you can be as creative as you want. Some people’s speakerphone greetings even put jokes, making it appear that they are already answering the phone call and not just a speakerphone message.

In recording the speakerphone greeting, it is important that you keep the tone of your voice friendly and warm. This will reassure the callers and will encourage them to leave their contact details.

Besides some clients judge the company and your capabilities as a representative of that company in a variety of ways. What if they use the speakerphone greeting that you composed? At least by keeping it formal but friendly, you have already established yourself as a professional.

Superultramodern Science (SS)

October 27th, 2008 by Admin

Superultramodern Science (SS) – It’s a new paradigm; superultramodern paradigm; a paradigm change. Modern/ultramodern scientists are inventing more and more complex theories (e.g. string theories) within the same paradigm (space existing really/physically out there). However their (modern/ultramodern) paradigm itself is incapable of solving big questions (like the nature and physics of mind, mystery of quantum non-locality, Zeno’s paradoxes, etc.). So a new framework; a new (and, by itself, conceptually necessary) way of looking at the world; Superultramodern Science (SS). SS is constituted of 12 theoretical components which are stated and briefly summarised below.

1. Superultramodern Scientism (SSism ) – Attempts to justify the definition of science as a systematic body of knowledge and thus to show that some kind of philosophy could, in fact, be science.

2. Superultramodern Epistemology [ Theory of Knowledge ] ( SE ) – Constituted of 6 sub-components namely : a. The principle of universal doubt b. I, as a subject, being at the centre of investigation c. I feel therefore I am. d. The FR (Flawed Reason) theory e. Superultramodern unification f. Superultramodern philosophical methodology 3. The NSTP ( Non – Spatial Thinking Process ) Theory : Non – Spatial Universal Mechanics (NSUM) – The theory that the material universe is exclusively a group of thinking process/es existing in the form of non-spatial feelings.

4. RGM ( Resolution of Great Mysteries ) : Superultramodern Unification (SU) – Proposes a unique solution to great many challenging problems in science/philosophy using the unificatory NSTP theory.

5. ROS ( Rehabilitation of Occult Sciences ) : Astrology, Numerology, Telepathy, Mysticism (ANTM) – Provides (scientific) explanations for astrological, numerological, telepathic, and mystic phenomena.

6. The FMUP ( Flawed Modern / Ultramodern Physics ) Theory : Superultramodern Physics (SP) – Points out flaws in modern/ultramodern physics and states superultramodern physics free of those flaws.

7. Superultramodern Religion ( SR ) – Brings out a critique on Christianity; presents new definitions of God/god; and shows how religious experiences could be explained.

8. Conmathematics ( Conceptual Mathematics ) : Superultramodern Mathematics (SM) – States and explains the Joshian conjecture of three – dimensional space : that space has three and only three spatial dimensions. Conmathematics is constituted of 4 sub-components namely : a. Conmathematical definition of mathematics b. Philosophy as mathematics c. Conceptual reconstruction of pure mathematics d. Conmathematical foundations of pure mathematics Also, presents solutions to the following : a. Russell’s paradox b. Three of the seven millennium problems in mathematics

9. The FR ( Flawed Reason ) Theory – The theory that reason itself might be flawed. That is, at some point reason probably breaks down.

10. Superultramodern Engineering ( SEng ) – Application of the NSTP theory. Modulating the spatial illusion or consciousness with meditation.

11. Superultramodern Ethical / Aesthetical Relativism ( SEAR ) – Argues that ethical and aesthetical concepts are relative and thus they cannot be defined in absolute terms.

12. Superultramodern Problems ( SPro ) – States the (unsolved) problems which are byproduct of superultramodern science.

What Is The Universal Subconscious?

October 25th, 2008 by Admin

There are many different and interchangeable terms that are used to describe the Universal Subconscious mind. But whatever term you use, metaphysicians and scientists agree that our Universe is a field of vibrating energy. Things that are denser operate at a lower frequency, and then there are also finer forms, such as thoughts and emotions, which operate at a much higher frequency. All of these things make up a collective Universal consciousness that we all share.

So, everything is energy; this energy is like a mass “mind” or awareness, and each and every one of us is made up of a piece of that awareness. Our own individual piece of Universal consciousness is our self, or our “ego”.

The mass awareness that I’m talking about has been called by many names.

Some common names include:

  • The Universal Subconscious
  • The Higher Source
  • The inner mind
  • God
  • The Soul

  • Everything we have is the result of a thought. Before something is created, it always exists first as an image or thought in the Universal conscious awareness. This means that if we consciously direct our thoughts, we have a great deal of power to control what happens in our lives and to shape our reality. In order to do this, we must connect with this powerful force that we are all part of.

If you see yourself as separate from the rest of the world, it is very hard to attract things to yourself

From a young age, we are taught that it is good to be independent, and to be able to do things for ourselves. What about you? Did you grow up with the belief that you are self-reliant, and that to rely on anyone or anything else is a sign of weakness?

Alright then… a healthy dose of self sufficiency never hurt anyone – but what about when you need help; who do you turn to then? The fact is, most of us can count the number of true friends we have on one hand…so if you think of yourself as a totally separate entity to everything and everyone else, then your resources are limited to yourself and possibly one or two other people.

However, what if you were to perceive your relationship with the Universe as oneness? When you do this, you will find it very easy for situations and people to come into your life at exactly the right time - almost like magic! You increase your personal power tenfold, because you open yourself up to the network of assistance that is available to you at all times from the Universal source!

When you have faith in the existence of the whole, complete and friendly Universe, you are opening your heart and allowing miracles to happen.

I urge you to open your heart and allow yourself to connect with the Universal mind. If you do so, you will be amazed and delighted at the outcome! The best way to connect with the source is through daily meditation. Use the incredible power of your higher source and enjoy the success and wellbeing that you attract to into your life as a result!

Debt management – getting help with your debts

    October 20th, 2008 by Admin

In the second quarter of 2008 almost 25,000 were declared insolvent in England & Wales. Even though this shows a slight decrease on the previous quarter of 2%, experts are warning that the consumer debt problem may get significantly worse as the trickle through of the credit crunch is felt.

UK consumers have become used to rising property prices and the comfort that brings in the ability to consolidate existing debts into a loan secured against the property. With the option of debt consolidation now out of reach for many because of uncertainty in the housing market, debt management plans are widely considered to be one of the most suitable ways to manage personal debt.

Unlike debt consolidation, with debt management there is no requirement for the consumer to take out further loans to repay their debts. Instead, a debt management plan involves working directly with creditors to re-negotiate payment terms for the debtor. The aim is to bring debt repayments down to a more manageable level on a month by month basis and repay the debt over a longer period of time.

A successful debt management plan will result in the creditor being repaid all monies owed and the debtor leaving the plan debt free.
